Dragonfly is one of my spirit guides and usually appears in my life at times of eminent change. A dragonfly is one of the best metaphors for transformation. The first years of its life are spent completely underwater as a nymph swimming through a number of molts but remaining a nymph, unaware of what it is becoming. One day, a deep inner guidance causes it to crawl out of the water and actually breathe air for the first time! Bathing in sunlight and by making use of the mother water remaining in its body, it begins to unfold its wings and thorax to reveal the beautiful creature it has become. Having made use of all the elements (earth, water, air and fire), it flies away. "The life cycle of the dragonfly is a perfect metaphor for our awakening. At present, in relation to the dragonfly metaphor, we are in the stages of climbing up the stem out of the water and into the sunlight." ~ Richard Rudd There are such strong parallels in my own life of this slow growth of inner changes and then sudden emergence to a new level of being/awareness. This metaphor helps me to be patient with the slowness when I’m going through the great discomfort of inner angst and wondering why I don’t fit in my skin any more. This ‘itchiness’ plus all the dragonflies flying into my life led me to my next step, namely the drawing of this Symbala. Symbalas embody a rainbow/dragonfly spirit of movement and frequency which makes them very useful tools for working with the process of change, inner and outer. In the drawing I worked with the geometry of the 4 and 8 embedding the energy of dimensional shifting from form to matter. With Warm, Loving Resonance, Lahrinda |
